The work lays its foundation in Christianity, including many quotes and passages from the Bible to support its premise. "Whatsoever a man seweth, that shall he also reap," is the basic tenet of her philosophy. The book also includes many examples of the power of thought and deed on the people in her life, showing that they were able to manifest what they believed - for positive or negative.Shinn's second work, Your Word is Your Wand (1928), is a companion piece to Game of Life. Shinn hosted talks and lectures in New York City, where she taught metaphysics to her students. She incorporated lessons from the pop culture of her time, using films like The Wizard of Oz and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves to illustrate her lessons and draw useful parallels.
