This pet gathering was held by Rubeus Hagrid during the 1985–1986 school year to gather pets owned by Hogwarts students and staff. Before the gathering, Jacob's sibling and their friends helped Fang overcome his fear of cats, a fear likely caused by Mrs Norris. Interacting with Jacob's sibling's cat and Professor McGonagall (in her Animagus form) allowed Fang to become more comfortable around cats.
